Male Menopause: Symptoms and Treatment

bull.jpgThe term “male menopause” is used to refer to the condition of men who have hormone levels drop after mid-life. Male menopause is a subject of controversy in the medical society. In the case of women, menopause is related with the termination of a bodily operation, like when the monthly menstruation periods stop. Also, a critical drop in the hormone levels in women occurs along with menopause. For these reasons, doctors are debating on whether male menopause really exists.

In the case of men in their middle and elderly years, smaller quantities of testosterone are being created by the testicles. This is believed to be the underlying reasons behind the occurrence of symptoms of male menopause. Men with menopause usually suffer from irritability, sleep disturbance, low sex drive, sweating, anxiety, sadness, memory problems, and erectile dysfunction. In most cases, erectile dysfunction may be caused by other disorders. But testosterone deficiency may be one possibility.

As a treatment, hormone replacement therapy is being recommended for men with low levels of testosterone and symptoms that come with it. Hormone replacement may not be applicable to older men who seek treatment for their erectile dysfunction unless they actually have very minimal levels of androgen. As for younger men with known hormone deficiency, it has been proven that nominal doses of testosterone can improve interest in sex.

Testosterone replacement therapy, which is also called as androgen replacement therapy, aims to reduce the symptoms brought about by male menopause. Androgen therapy, however, comes with potential side effects and risks on the prostate, mental functioning, and cardiovascular system. Older men undiagnosed of prostate cancer should also take caution when being applied with androgens. Sleep apnea, or the cessation of breathing during sleep, is also considered as a rare risk with hormone therapy.

Three Health Advantages Of A Vegetarian Diet

While many people lament the nutritional disadvantages of a poorly planned vegetarian diet, few stress the health advantages of adopting a vegetarian or vegan diet. In this article, I will cover the major three nutritional advantages of becoming a vegetarian.

The first major advantage of a vegetarian diet is increased heart health. Vegetarians, on average, consume more nuts (often as a supplemental form of protein). Nuts contain “good” fats, such as omega-3 and omega-6. This promotes good heart health by reducing “bad” cholesterol and unclogging arteries. In addition to nuts, vegetarians also consume more soy milk (often to replace milk), which reduces “bad” cholesterol and has been linked to good heart health.

The second major advantage vegetarians enjoy is increased skin health. In addition to consuming larger quantities of nuts (which contain healthful oils), vegetarians tend to consume more fruit and vegetables, which are rich in essential vitamins, including A and E, which are linked to good skin health. Fruits and vegetables also contain high amounts of fiber, which helps flush toxins out of the body, further contributing to better skin health.

The last health advantage vegetarians enjoy is an increased natural consumption of antioxidants.

OTC Pain Relief

When you have a headache, you typically open a cabinet and get some sort of medication.  Which you choose tends to be based on how often you have them and what you have experienced working in the past.  These over the counter (OTC) pain relievers are commonly used to treat any headache, whether from a recurring primary disorder (like a migraine) or secondary to another condition (like a hangover).

These medications are typically abortive medicines – that is, they stop the headache or at least lessen its strength.  They are usually taken as you need them and, when used as directed, normally pose no significant side effects.  Unless you need to take them often.  Analgesics, such as Tylenol (acetaminophen), Bayer (aspirin), and Advil (ibuprofen) can have adverse effects when taken frequently or over a long period of time.  Using any of these products more than twice a week can cause a condition known as rebound headache phenomenon.  Rebound headaches are a sort of dependency on the analgesic and cause your headaches to occur more often.  This condition also can build a tolerance to the medication whereby you need ever increasing doses to find relief.

Analgesics also have other side effects that you should be aware of. Tylenol should never to be taken while you are consuming alcohol or have a hangover. Tylenol and alcohol together can overwhelm your liver and cause failure of that organ.  Surprisingly, it does not always take a significant amount of either; the damage is done by the timing of the two substances hitting the liver.  Ibuprofen and aspirin tend to be rough on the stomach and so should always be taken with food and milk.  The problem for many who need to take these pain relievers often is that they can cause damage to the stomach and intestines, creating heartburn, ulcers, and even deadly intestinal bleeding.  Additionally, taking more than the recommended amount of any of these products can also cause liver failure.

So, have a care when taking any pain relief, even the OTC ones. The best suggestion is that if we can still handle the pain, then don’t take any medication.

Stylish Prescription Eyeglasses

glasses.jpgPrescription eyeglasses are eyeglasses that are used for sight correction. An eyeglass prescription is a written order by an ophthalmologist or an optometrist to an optician for eyeglasses. It specifies the refractive power to which the eyeglasses are to be made in order to correct blurred vision due to refractive errors, including myopia (near- or short-sightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness or longsightedness), astigmatism, and presbyopia.

These sight problems are very common, especially for myopia and hyperopia. But some big part of people who have the problems is having some objections in wearing eyeglasses. They feel that eyeglasses will make their looks less attractive. Some people also think that people that wear eyeglasses are boring people, with such titles like bookworms, nerds, geeks, or any others.

Actually, that is not the case. There are so many stylish prescription eyeglasses in the market nowadays. And stylish eyeglasses don’t have to be expensive designer or branded eyeglasses. Thus, looking less attractive is not a reason for objection in wearing eyeglasses. There are now affordable yet high quality and stylish prescription eyeglasses in the market to choose from.

Stress and the pH Miracle Diet

Our bodies work according to the pH scale, which works on a range of 1 to 14. A ranking of 1 on this scale denotes a high level of acid while a ranking of 14 indicates that there is a high concentration of alkaline present. A ranking of 7 on the pH scale represents neutrality in pH. The blood in the human bloodstream regulates at the level of 7.35, which is mildly alkaline.

The pH miracle diet advocates keeping the intake of food into your body in line with this optimum level. The method of implementation is quite simple, by coordinating an eating planned structured around a comprehensive list of foods, and supplements you can create an effective strategy to lower acidity in your body.

Stress is ubiquitous, it is everywhere and it affects everyone. The body works overtime to combat stress that in turn creates more stress. This vicious cycle is propagated by an increase in acid production.

As stated previously, acid is a detriment to your body. When the body is overly acidic it does not run well, on the cellular level, the body cannot maintain the immune system. The circulation is adversely affected with the heart having to compensate by working harder. With the heart beating at a higher rate to push this sticky blood through the bloodstream many of these sticky cell clumps break free from the path and attach themselves to the arterial walls creating further slowdowns in the circulation. Your body needs blood to function if the blood reaching the cells and organs are of poor quality this can have serious repercussions. Stress is an acid-producing killer.

There are many techniques in addition to diet that can help in your quest for a balanced pH level. Getting the adequate rest is always the best way to achieve stress relief, as well as meditation which can be two to three times more restful and rejuvenating than actual sleep. Limiting the intake of caffeine and other stimulants also works toward lowering stress in the body by removing these narcotics from the equation. At the heart of stress reduction is eating more foods that are alkaline in nature that will neutralize the acid waste in the body. Exercising is by far the most effective way to receive direct stress relief, and will also help reduce the fat stores of the body where acid waste inhabits in abundance.

The pH Miracle Diet as a Cleansing Diet

One of the most important principles in the pH miracle diet is the concept of cleansing your body of the acidic materials that are built up within. The ph miracle diet is a cleansing diet. It performs a cleansing of the body and its tissues and organs. This cleansing is almost like setting the “restart” button on your body. Any conditions you have developed from improper diet and lifestyle will start to dissipate. Cleansing diets like the pH miracle diet will help give your body the nutritional support it needs to function at an optimum level.

To understand what a cleansing diet is you need to understand how the body cleanses itself. The body rids itself of harmful elements through the colon, skin, lungs and bladder. The liver, kidneys and lymphatic system all assist with this cleansing. The liver is the organ in the body that is primarily responsible for body detoxification. When the liver is not functioning properly it cannot change toxins like alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, pesticides, drugs, antibiotics and additives into waste matter. If your liver doesn’t work, you are poisoning yourself. The liver can become stressed through improper digestion (eating processed foods), yeast overgrowth, parasites, dehydration and inadequate water intake.

The pH miracle diet qualifies as a cleansing diet because it performs a cleansing function of the liver and the rest of your body. The diet is made of mostly raw foods, simple proteins (beans and legumes), alternative whole grains and plenty of fresh and pure water. Cleansing diets include, at minimum, five servings of vegetables per day. In most cases, people eat twice that when they are on the pH miracle diet. This is accomplished with the use of fresh vegetable juices. There are four to five servings of vegetables in just two cups of juiced vegetables.

Eating small and frequent meals is also an important part of the cleansing function of the pH miracle diet. The small meals will keep calorie intake up and give you the opportunity to add more vegetables to your day. Although raw vegetables should be favored, lightly steamed veggies are also beneficial. Plant based proteins like beans, soy and nuts should also be included at each small meal for energy and balance.
